Sage Pathways offers a virtual tutoring and mentoring Program to k-12 scholars. Our scholars are matched with college students who provide ELA (English Language Arts) and math support. Our program offers personalized academic support to scholars. Our tutors/mentors possess the necessary content knowledge paired with direct feedback from each scholar’s teacher to provide one-on-one instruction to help students achieve their academic and social goals. Our tutors/mentors also offer guidance and support to help our scholars develop their skills to succeed in school and beyond. We believe our scholars deserve access to high-quality education and support, regardless of their background or financial status.
Sage Pathways’ advocacy focus will be on the rights of our scholars and their families in the education system. We aim to assist scholars and their families as they navigate and become informed participants in our complex educational system. Sage seeks to ensure that all scholars have access to a high-quality education that prepares them for success in college, career, and life. We collaborate with families, educators, and policymakers to promote policies and practices that support student achievement and well-being. Our services include advocacy, training, and support for families.
Sage will support minority and underserved scholars with college and career mapping. We will develop plans for credit recovery (high school graduation requirements) and post-secondary success – trade school, college, military, and career readiness.
Who is Lisa Ross?
Change Agent ~ Mentor ~ Advocate
Lisa Ross, CEO and Founder of Sage Pathways, transforms the lives of underserved and at-risk scholars who have been failed by an educational system not designed with them in mind.
As a former educator and a middle and high school principal with more than 20 years of experience, Lisa has seen firsthand the inequities in preparing students of color for academic and future career success.
In 2019, the dedicated champion of scholars set out to make a difference by launching Sage Pathways, an educational consulting and services company that provides strategic one-on-one counseling, advising, and mentoring, as well as virtual tutoring for K-12 scholars.
Since its inception with Mrs. Ross at the helm, Sage Pathways has mentored, tutored, or advocated for nearly 100 students. Several scholars have completed specialized programs with Sage and have gone on to pursue their college degrees or a lucrative career.

“It should be the norm that every single student in this country is guaranteed a quality education no matter where they live, which tax bracket thier family might fall into, or their race. And it’s unfortunate that it has to be argued so often and politicized.” -Genel Fowler

The Police Officer Who Served and Mentored!
Lisa Ross met Officer Jeremiah Benjamin (JB) Williams while serving as principal. Officer Williams was a Los Angeles School Police Officer who supported schools, scholars, families, and the community. One day, Officer Williams was called to the school at the request of a parent whose child was having attendance issues. He took control of the meeting by speaking frankly and respectfully to both parents. He learned as much as he could about the young man and his family. From that day forward, Mrs. Ross knew she had gained a partner who would work with her to support and mentor struggling scholars.
Officer Williams decided to take this young man under his wing and became his mentor. He remembered his birthday and periodically called to check in with him. Officer Williams’ actions contributed to this young man graduating from high school instead of becoming a dropout.
While Officer Williams served her school, he impressed Mrs. Ross with his ease and gracefulness in interacting with students, faculty, and her.
He was a true advocate and mentor! He showed up, made connections, sought resources, and made people feel they mattered.
Sage Pathways honors Officer Williams’s legacy by continuing the work of advocating, mentoring, and supporting youth and their families.
“Service is the rent we pay for being. It is the very purpose of life, and not something you do in your spare time.”
